Paul Mitchell

Paul Mitchell

Pastor Paul Mitchell was called to Wayside Baptist Church in December of 2007 and began serving as pastor in February of 2008.

He was born in Landstuhl, Germany to his parents, Dale and Ella Mitchell, and is the youngest of three children. His childhood involved several residential changes as his father served in the U.S. Army until he was in the fourth grade. While they were stationed in Korea and under the preaching of Missionary Worth Worley, he realized he was a sinner and in need of a Savior. On a Sunday night, he went to the altar and repented of his sins and put his full faith in Christ for his salvation.

He was educated in Christian schools throughout his childhood (other than a half year of kindergarten - in Korea there were no Christian schools) and participated in sports, choir, and various other activities. It was during high school that God called him to preach.

Pastor Paul met his wife, Donna, in college and have been married since 1992. He was active in his local church and served in various ministries such as youth department, visitation, and filling the pulpit for his pastor. He was employed as a paramedic and volunteered as a firefighter until the Lord led him to start a work for teen boys whose lives were entangled with sin. After ten years in that ministry, the Lord led him to where he serves today at Wayside Baptist Church.

Susan Jenkins

Susan Jenkins

Church Secretary

Mrs. Jenkins accepted Christ as her personal savior at the young age of 6. She can vividly remember kneeling in her parent's bedroom as her father led her to Christ.

She and her husband, Danny, a deacon at Wayside, joined the church in 2001. Mrs. Jenkins has worked at the church since September 2005, first in the capacity of Missions/Assistant Secretary, and for the last few years as Church Secretary. She also volunteers in the church's Nursery Ministry and Benevolence Ministry, is a member of the Finance Committee and Leadership Ministry Team, and is active in the Ladies' Fellowship.

Mrs. Susan, as she is normally called around the church, and Danny have been married since 1998 and are parents to Katie (Trey) Umphlett and Carter (Bailey) Jenkins, and are the very proud grandparents to Anna, Eleanor and Maggie Umphlett.
